Nerium currently focuses its product pipeline on Nerium oleander-based extracts

The Nerium oleander plant has been used traditionally as folk remedies for a wide variety of maladies and conditions, including abscesses, corns, asthma, dysmenorrheal, eczema, epilepsy, herpes, malaria, psoriasis, ringworm, scabies, sores, warts, abortifacients, emetics, diuretics and heart tonics.

Anvirzel™

Anvirzel™ is an internationally patented aqueous extract of Nerium oleander composed of both polar and non-polar compounds, and containing at least five polysaccharides, two cardiac glycosides, and five proteins.

"Anvirzel™, a hot water extract of the ornamental plant Nerium Oleander, contains oleandrin as a principal cytotoxic component. Anvirzel™ has pharmacologic activities against human tumor cells. For example, in addition to its established ability to inhibit Na+, K+ -ATPase activity, this compound is known to result in induction of apoptosis, produce a sustained increase in [Ca2+], inhibit activation of NF-KB, release cytochrome C, activate caspase-dependent pathways, PARP cleavage, and produce persistent cell signal transduction events including activation of MAPK pathway, Racl, p21-activated kinase, and c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase pathways." Nerium also is transitioning from the administration of Anvirzel™ as a therapeutic agent by intramuscular injection to the development of Nerium oleander-based products that are administered orally. Nerium believes that its research has demonstrated that an effective oral route of administration for Nerium oleander-based therapeutic agents is feasible.

HIviral™ - HEP-viral™

Two additional Nerium oleander-based products, have been granted Sanitary Registers by the Health Ministry of the Republic of Honduras: HIviral for the treatment of HIV/AIDS and HEP-viral for treatment of hepatitis C. Like Anvirzel™, they are distributed through Nerium Biotechnology’s Latin American subsidiaries.

Nerium Cream™ (pending FY 2010)

A new category of Nerium oleander–based skincare products is under development. These skincare products will target aged, sun-damaged skin, several specific skin diseases, and skin cancer. The initial product, Nerium Cream™ will be available FY 2010.

In addition to the Nerium Extract, this product has been further enhanced with L-Lysine, Olive Leaf Extract and Clove Flower Oil, known compounds used for this condition.

Continuing research and additional trials for skincare formulations are planned for antiviral and skin cancer (Basal, Squamous, and Melanoma) studies under a FDA-IND. With the data gathered from all previous pilot studies, Nerium Biotechnology, Inc. believes it will continue to demonstrate safety and have a reasonable expectation of success in a FDA Trial.
